MMGY Global and Travel Consul Partner with UNWTO on Women Empowerment in Tourism

The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has partnered with MMGY Global to produce a video explaining how tourism can and should be a tool for economic and social empowerment of women.

Tourism is a leading sector in terms of the share of women employed and UNWTO is committed to enhancing the positive impact of tourism development on women’s lives and contributing with achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5 – “achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.”

“MMGY Global shares our commitment in achieving gender equality, understands our mission to bring gender issues to the forefront of the tourism sector and did not hesitate to offer their support,” said UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili.

“Women empowerment is vital to sustainable development and the realization of human rights for all. Promoting equality will speed up the progress toward true economic sustainability and inclusive societies. Effective communication of these goals is key to achieving them and in this we are delighted to count on the expertise and support of MMGY Global,” he added.

“MMGY Global is, through its international travel marketing alliance Travel Consul, an active affiliate member of UNWTO since 2016 and we are committed to supporting their work in ethics and sustainability in tourism” states Clayton Reid, CEO of MMGY Global.

“MMGY Global has become the leading integrated tourism marketing agency in the world thanks to some truly exceptional female professionals and industry leaders so we feel strongly that the contribution of women to our global industry should be recognized and promoted at every level. We are proud to have collaborated with UNWTO to produce this video and help disseminate it worldwide.”

The video is available on the UNWTO´s YouTube channel to watch, download or use for campaign and activities.
